Tech Predictions for 2010

I recently read an article on the New York Times Website entitled, "Five 2010 Predictions for Tech Companies." The companies used in the article were Twitter, Facebook, AT&T, Sprint, and Apple. I found the article really fascinating, and for me, someone with no idea what will happen in the future of technology companies, also found it very informative. The article predicted that Twitter, the up-and-coming social networking, will continuing growing at a rapid pace. It also predicted that the common glitches will smooth out, and the somewhat-often security issues will also be resolved. For Facebook, the article stated that "If [facebook] keeps growing at this rate, it could reach half a billion users by July." The article also went on to say that Facebook may become more profitable for the owners, but they may also have to fix the ever-annoying issues of Facebook spam, and applications. The article predicted troubled times for AT&T, the up-and-down cell company. Over the course of 2009, many iPhone, AT&T users have had trouble with connections, which the article states, they must sort out, or risk loosing a huge chunk of clients. For Sprint, another cell company, the article reflects on its competitive pricing, but says that, "Sprint could also open up new markets by continuing to introduce its 4G data network, and by partnering with more device manufacturers, as it did with Amazon for the Kindle." For Apple, one predictions stated was that AppleTV, the device allowing iTunes and Youtube to be watched on a TV, will open up the entire Internet. The article also speculated on the subject of the iSlate, the tablet laptop rumored to be coming out this year.
I found this article really interesting, and would encourage others to visit the New York Times Website for more tech-related pieces.
